Finally got the brass blanks to etch well with the 2w IR laser. There is a coating on them. Used a red scotch brite pad in one direction to remove all of the coating followed by a gray scotch bright pad in the same direction. Leaves a nice brush finish. Clean with alcohol and hit start. Two passes at 200mm and 100% power. Doing all the back sides of the coin first and will etch the front design next!
